Japanese technology giant Nintendo continues to work on its next generation game console. The countdown has started for the long-awaited Nintendo Switch 2. A new claim has been made about the release date of the new hybrid console device, which will appear as the successor of the current Switch. Here are the details…
When is the Nintendo Switch 2 release date?
GamesIndutry.biz’s Chris Dring shared remarkable new information about the successor of the Switch in a podcast he participated in. Speaking about the Nintendo Switch 2 release date, Dring stated that the highly anticipated game console will be released in the current fiscal year, which will end on March 31, 2025.
Dring also spoke about previous reports indicating that Nintendo Switch 2 will be released later this year. The analyst completely rejected these claims, stating that the device will not be announced in 2024, but that the Switch 2 model will start hitting shelves before April 2025.
The analyst also commented on the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA), which will be released in 2025. Stating that GTA 6 will stimulate the gaming market, Dring said that Nintendo will not miss this opportunity.
Nintendo Switch could be the best-selling console of all time
As it is known, the current Nintendo Switch device was released in March 2017. Entering its seventh year, the console model is currently known as the longest-lasting Nintendo console.
Switch, which managed to sell 143.42 million units until June 30, 2024, aims to sell 13.5 million units in 2024. If the company realizes this goal, it will leave PlayStation 2 behind and go down in history as the best-selling game console of all time.
